To make your stay in Christmas Island and time as enjoyable as possible, our guides have a few suggestions.
When traveling to Christmas Island, be sure to bring your C-card.
Christmas Island’s water is relatively warm. Temperatures vary from 78° to 82° F. A 2mm or 3mm wetsuit is sufficient for most divers. Visibility ranges from 50 feet to well over 100 feet along the dropoffs.
Wear sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) to protect yourself from the sun. Remember to bring shades and a hat. Being in the tropics, Christmas Island often has a morning and a late afternoon shower. Be prepared for wet weather. Bring a light rain jacket to stay dry and sweatshirt to stay warm after the dive, on the boat ride, or while kayaking.
Pack a save-a-dive kit for your trip. Include extra straps, o-rings, and other miscellaneous items. If you forget, no problem. We have all of this at its shop.
A small first-aid kit with such things as aspirin, Band-Aids, and hydrogen peroxide is recommended.
Remember to pack a flashlight and some extra batteries.
Bring your dive computer. A dive computer is not required if you don’t have one. Carry your dive computer in your carry-on bag. Dive computers have been known to turn on in luggage compartments, which are not pressurized, causing the computer to get stuck in altitude mode.
If you have an underwater camera, bring it along. We recommend that you bring extra film, batteries, and o-rings
Remember to drink plenty of water when you dive to prevent dehydration, further reducing your susceptibility to decompression sickness. We supply water on all of the boats.
If you have DAN or PADI insurance, bring your card. If you don’t have divers insurance but would like to get more information, visit the Divers Alert Network’s (DAN) Website at www.diversalertnetwork.org.
The Australian dollar is the rate of exchange in Christmas Island. Austrailian postal rates apply to Christmas Island.
A valid passport & visa is all that’s needed to enter Christmas Island as a tourist.
Christmas Island does have a hospital, but it is very limited in its capabilities. Most serious injuries are air transported to Honolulu.
It is highly recommended that you bring OFF or some type of bug spray as we are visited in the evenings by mosquitos.
